Harry Toler, Organist

    Harry Toler, a lifelong resident of East Hampton who was the organist at Christ Episcopal Church on Hampton Street in Sag Harbor for over three decades, died at home in Windmill Village last Friday. He was 77 years old.
    After retiring from the church around 15 years ago, Mr. Toler got a job taking tickets at the East Hampton Cinema “just to stay busy,” said his niece, Frances Leek.
    Mr. Toler was born in Southampton on Sept. 29, 1934, to Carey and Gwendolyn Loper. He attended East Hampton High School and then enlisted in the Army.
    A brother, Robert, predeceased Mr. Loper. He is survived by two nephews in addition to Ms. Leek.
    He will be buried tomorrow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Amagansett. Donations in Mr. Toler’s memory can be sent to Christ Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 570, Sag Harbor 11963.


Mr. Toler also leaves his two nephews Robert C. Toler of Braintree MA, Christopher J. Toler of Taunton MA and his niece Karen A. Toler-Ellison of Nashua NH. He is also survived by 3 Great-Nephews and 2 Great-Nieces.
