An obituary last week for Robert G. Plitt contained some inaccuracies.
Mr. Plitt, the longtime owner of the Plitt Ford Mercury auto dealership in East Hampton, operated that business for almost 50 years, his wife, Shirley Plitt, said, and not close to three decades. He bought the business in 1955, and had retired only in recent years.
The Plitt family has not held a service for Mr. Plitt, as was reported. A service will be announced at a later date, Mrs. Plitt said.
In addition, Mr. Plitt had received his bachelor’s degree in business from New York University, which he attended after serving in the Army for four years. He had previously attended Foxwood Academy and then Trinity College.
