Into Shape
The Navy’s news service has sent a note that Petty Officer 3rd Class Carlos A. Chacon, a son of Jamie A. Chacon of Crystal Drive and a 2005 graduate of East Hampton High School, is among some 730 Department of Defense personnel taking part in a four-week “crews into shape” strength and fitness program this month. Personnel are divided into teams and points are awarded toward a final ranking. Points are gained through exercise and eating at least two cups of fruit and three cups of vegetables every day.

No-Meat Potluck
Vegans (and those who might like to eat like them from time to time) have been invited to a potluck dinner Monday organized by the Wellness Foundation of East Hampton at the middle school cafeteria. Dinnertime is 6:30. Those providing a dish to share have been asked to take along a copy of the recipe — and their own plates and utensils.

Egg Hunt
Children 8 and younger can get a jump on Easter with a fast-paced egg hunt on the grounds of the Ladies Village Improvement Society headquarters at 95 Main Street on Saturday at 11 a.m. The Easter bunny will welcome the kids. There will be plenty of candy and prizes, and the hunt will go on rain or shine.

Egg Session
Cittanuova, a restaurant on Newtown Lane, will host an Easter-egg-making session for kids 3 to 8 on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Easter bunny will visit. A donation of $3 to benefit the Kiwanis Club of East Hampton will be asked.

Author Talk
Phil Keith, the author of “Blackhorse Riders,” about a forgotten battle of the Vietnam War, will speak Saturday at 1 p.m. at the East Hampton Library. Mr. Keith served three tours in Vietnam as a naval aviator. He lives in Southampton, has a number of other books to his credit, and has taught business at Long Island University.
