If you are strolling around East Hampton Village this weekend between films or shopping, look for Dan Roe, a young independent filmmaker who is holding a bake sale to raise money for his film. His goal is to complete his film “Weenie” and enter it into next year’s festival.
Mr. Roe is a recent graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Ross School alumnus. He is collecting more significant donations on the “crowd-funding” Web site Rocket Hub.
“My friend Darko Lungulov, who’s feature film Here and Thereplayed at Hamptons International Film Festival a couple years ago, was able to raise a substantial part of his budget on Rocket Hub,” Mr. Roe said in a press release. He noted that type of fundraising offers no tangible returns to the donor, but a good piece of cake will.
