State of Emergency Continues in Southampton Town

Hurricane Sandy Update - Post Storm

STATE OF EMERGENCY remains in place for the entire Town of Southampton.

NO UNNECESSARY ROAD TRAVEL. EMERGENCY VEHICLES ONLY. Motorists are impeding the cleanup work by Town Highway Workers and LIPA Tree Removal Crews.

Flooding, road debris, downed utility wires, downed trees, along with non-functioning traffic signals make travel extremely hazardous. ALL motorists should remain off the roads.

Dune Road has experienced substantial damage and will remain closed until further notice. There have been multiple reports of washouts along the entire length of Dune Road with major dune destruction.

We have mutilple reports of downed LIVE electrical wires. DO NOT come into close proximity of any wires. They could be energized and contacting them could cause loss of life or serious physical injury. Notify the Emergency Operations Center of any downed wires or tree blockages at (631) 728-3030
