Almond, which used to be about a mile west on Montauk Highway, has established itself in its current home. The wine list is mainly French, to match a menu that includes escargots, red wine-braised short ribs, and steak frites, but dishes are far from routine. Macaroni and cheese? It comes with proscuitto and truffles. Hash for brunch? It's made with duck confit. There's a different "plat du jour" daily. Almond also has a New York branch, on East 22nd Street.
