The Living Room, like the hotel it is housed in, is part of an upscale Scandinavian chain. The look is pleasantly quirky and colorful. The chef is Swedish and gives the seasonal classics a hint of Scandinavian cooking. Swedish "bouillabaisse" is cod, shrimp, squid, and scallops simmered in tomato-fennel broth. Lamb meatballs come with Mecox Bay Dairy ricotta and kale. The pastry chef is The East Hampton Star's own Laura Donnelly, who recommends her date cake. The emphasis, though, is on slow food, organic produce, and fish from local sources. The wine list is international, and there's an international crowd as well as a local one. There is a menu for dogs and a "yappy" hour from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, when pet owners can enjoy half-off drinks.
