Board to Hear From Aviation Advisor

At a work session Tuesday, the East Hampton Town Board will hear a presentation from Peter J. Kirsch, an aviation law attorney the town has hired for advice on town airport matters. The meeting begins at 10 a.m. at the Montauk Firehouse.

In the midst of much public discussion about noise from the airport and the potential for gaining more local control over airport decisions now dictated by the Federal Aviation Administration, Mr. Kirsch recently sent a memo to the board discussing the town's obligation to federal regulations, how that obligation is impacted by whether or not East Hampton accepts federal airport money, and what it might take for the town to gain the right to implement stricter controls on, for instance, hours of airport use.

Mr. Kirsch, whose firm is Kaplan, Kirsch and Rockwell of Denver, Washington D.C., and New York, was invited to the session by Town Councilman Dominick Stanzione, to answer board members' questions.
