Police have asked for the public's help in identifying a man they say robbed Springs Wines and Liquors on Saturday evening of an undisclosed amount of cash.

East Hampton Town Police have released a surveillance-camera image of the suspect. It shows a white male wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and dark vest and sunglasses entering the store at about 4:50 p.m.

They said that the man, who appeared to be about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet in height and of a medium build, told the store's clerk that he had a gun. Police said that he did not display a weapon, but kept his hand in his vest pocket, indicating that he was armed.

After scooping an amount of cash from the store's register, the suspect fled on foot along Fort Pond Boulevard in the direction of Three Mile Harbor Road.

Police asked that anyone with information get in touch with them at 631-537-7575 or by e-mail to ehtpd@ehtpd.org. Anonymous tips can be phoned to 800-220-TIPS, or via text to CRIMES (274637) with "SCPD" typed in the message. A reward of up to $5,000 is available if a tip results in an arrest.
