The Hamptons International Film Festival will begin its fifth SummerDocs series on June 15 with “Twenty Feet from Stardom,” directed by Morgan Neville.
The documentary looks at the backup singers who help bring out the best in their leads. It focuses on three artists, all different in their styles, genres, and time periods, who offer their take on what it’s like to be just to the left of the limelight.
Darlene Love, who is featured in the film, will perform live after the screening and Dick Cavett, a guest host, will fill in for Alec Baldwin for a post-film discussion.
Mr. Baldwin is expected back on July 5 to talk about “Gasland Part II,” directed by Josh Fox. Mr. Fox’s first film, “Gasland,” was an Academy Award nominee. This film, a sequel, continues to probe the controversial method of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, to extract natural gas.
Two more documentaries will be announced later in the season. Tickets for the screenings, which are typically at 8 p.m., are available on the Guild Hall Web site or at the box office.
The 21st Annual Hamptons International Film Festival will be held over Columbus Day weekend, which is Oct. 10 to Oct. 14 this year.
