Sag Harbor Cinema to Present Volker Schlondorff Film

U.S. premiere of 'Return to Montauk' at Guild Hall

The Sag Harbor Cinema Arts Center will present the U.S. premiere of “Return to Montauk,” a film by Volker Schlondorff, on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Guild Hall. Shot in Montauk, Amagansett, and New York City, the story concerns a writer who travels from Berlin to New York to publicize his new book. While there, he is reunited with a former lover, and they spend a weekend in Montauk, hoping to discover whether or not they have a future together.

Mr. Schlondorff, who spends summers in Amagansett, and the Irish writer Colm Toibin adapted the film from Max Frisch’s 1975 novel “Montauk.” Tickets are $20, $150 with a reception at the Maidstone Hotel.
