The Springs School PTA has put out the call for submissions for the Springs Mystery Art Sale, a fund-raiser for the school's Visiting Artists Program.

After a hiatus last year, the popular sale will return to Ashawagh Hall from May 11 through 13. The deadline for submissions is May 1.

Works in the show will measure five by seven inches and can be in any medium, including photography. Art by professional and amateur adult artists will be hung alongside that by students. Pieces will be displayed anonymously, with the artists' signatures on the back, and will be sold for $20 apiece throughout the weekend. Only at the closing party will buyers learn whose work they have purchased.

Each artist may submit up to four pieces. Submission packets and guidelines can be requested by email to, online at, or at the Golden Eagle art store, 79 Newtown Lane, East Hampton.

The event, which was very successful in past years, is modeled after a similar fund-raiser at the Royal College of Art in London.

Last year, a Festival of the Arts with free art workshop by local artists was held in lieu of the art sale. This year, the weekend will again include an afternoon of free art workshops on Saturday, culminating in a closing party with music, food, and a live auction.
