Hampton Jitney and Fighting Chance, a Sag Harbor nonprofit that supports cancer patients, have teamed up for a crowdfunding campaign to provide rides to and from far-away doctor's appointments.
The campaign, being conducted through goodcircle.org, a crowdfunding platform operated by two East Hamptoners, has two days left to reach its goal of $30,750 to provide 1,000 Jitney tickets to Fighting Chance patients by Dec. 31.
The 2016 effort marks the third time that Hampton Jitney and Fighting Chance have worked together for this cause. During the previous two years, more than 1,300 rides were given to cancer patients. The Paul R. Carey Foundation donated $5,000 this year, and Hampton Jitney is matching all other donations, worth about $14,000.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the campaign had reached 98 percent of its goal. More information can be found online.
