HAMPTONS BLACK INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

nThe second annual Hamptons Black International Film Festival will take place tomorrow and Saturday, with screenings all day and into the evening, including talks with filmmakers and receptions.

World Cinema Now: The Best of the Decade, a series, continues tonight at 8 with “Summer Hours,” in which three siblings played by Jeremie Renier, Juliette Binoche, and Charles Berling reunite when their mother dies, leaving her belongings to be sorted out and her estate sold. Tickets cost $12, $10 for members.

The Artists on Film series will begin tomorrow at 7 p.m. with “Persistence of Vision” by Richmond Burton. Mr. Burton, a painter, brings his notions of experimentation to bear on the complex relationships between artists and art dealers with references to Jackson Pollock, and sexual dynamics as a central metaphor. Tickets cost $5, members free.

OPERA AND BALLET IN CINEMA

Parrish Art Museum, 25 Job’s Lane, Southampton
In its ongoing series the museum will screen “Stravinsky and the Ballets Russes: Firebird, The Wedding and The Rite of Spring,” tonight at 7:30 and Sept. 5 at 2 p.m.

The Hamptons International Film Festival and Guild Hall will screen “The Last Play at Shea,” a documentary about Billy Joel’s concert at Shea Stadium before it was demolished. Mr. Joel and Alec Baldwin will be on hand to discuss the film. Showtime is Saturday, 8 p.m., $20, $18 for members.

“THE AMERICAN,” rated R. In this suspense thriller, George Clooney is an assassin who retires to the Italian countryside, where a romance develops and his work threatens his future.

“CAIRO TIME,” rated PG. A fashion magazine editor in her 50s travels to Cairo to meet her husband, a United Nations official working in Gaza, and he, unavoidably delayed, sends his friend and security officer in his stead. Unexpected romance ensues.

“CATS & DOGS: THE REVENGE OF KITTY GALORE,” rated PG. Cats and dogs take on an epic struggle for control of the planet in this animal action comedy, a sequel to the 2001 version.

“DINNER FOR SCHMUCKS,” rated PG-13. A rising executive could get a career boost for bringing the biggest buffoon to a monthly dinner thrown by his boss, but after meeting Steve Carell’s character, Barry, blundering good intentions threaten to screw up his career and love life.

“EAT PRAY LOVE,” rated PG-13. On the heels of a painful divorce, a woman who had previously looked forward to a contented life of domesticated bliss sets out to explore the world and seek out her true destiny. Based on the memoir by Elizabeth Gilbert, and starring Julia Roberts.

“THE EXTRA MAN,” rated R. A lonely dreamer who fancies himself the hero of an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel starts a new life in New York, where he falls for a co-worker at an environmental magazine and begins a volatile mentorship with a new roommate, who works as an escort for high-society widows.

“GET LOW,” rated PG-13. Robert Duvall is a hermit who wants to preside over his own funeral, and Bill Murray is a fast-talking mortician who smells a big payday. As the day approaches, the mortician uncovers a secret involving the hermit, a local widow (Sissy Spacek) and an Illinois preacher.

“THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE,” not rated. In this sequel to “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” two journalists on the verge of exposing a story on a brutal sex trafficking ring between Sweden and Eastern Europe are murdered, and a woman is falsely accused.

“I AM LOVE,” rated R. A wealthy family in Milan is shaken up when the patriarch splits the family business between his son and grandson, and his daughter-in-law falls in love with her son’s business partner, a handsome chef.

“INCEPTION,” rated PG-13. Christopher Nolan puts a psychological, science-fiction spin on his latest work, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

“THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT,” rated R. Things get complicated when teenage children of a lesbian couple (Julianne Moore and Annette Bening) seek out their biological father (Mark Ruffalo).

“THE LAST EXORCISM,” rated PG-13. A reverend plans a documentary film around what he wants to be his last exorcism, but upon meeting Nell and her family on a rural Louisiana farm, he is confronted with evil in its purest form, and must save the possessed child and himself before it is too late.

“NANNY MCPHEE RETURNS,” rated PG. A struggling mother whose husband is overseas finds some much-needed assistance in Nanny McPhee. A sequel to the 2005 film “Nanny McPhee.”

“THE OTHER GUYS,” rated PG-13. Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg are a couple of goofy New York City detectives who stumble upon a seemingly innocuous case that could be the career opportunity of their lives.

“SALT,” rated PG-13. Angelina Jolie is a C.I.A. agent who eludes capture by her superiors after she is fingered as a Russian sleeper spy with plans to assassinate the president. While attempting to reunite with her family, she tries to prove that someone else is the traitor.

“THE SWITCH,” rated PG-13. A 40-year-old unmarried woman impregnates herself with a turkey baster, and her best friend must live with the secret that the child is his.

“SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD,” rated PG-13. Michael Cera is Scott Pilgrim, a garage band bassist with no trouble getting girls. When he falls for Ramona, an army of ex-boyfriends will stop at nothing to eliminate him.

“TAKERS,” rated PG-13. Matt Dillon is a Los Angeles detective who vows to take down a gang of thieves as they plan their last big heist.
