Fall after-school workshops run by Stages, a Children’s Theatre Workshop, started last week, but space is still available for serious young thespians looking to polish their skills.
A performance workshop for kids 8 to 18 years old will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. through late October at the Southampton Town Recreation Center. It will culminate in a performance of “The Frankenstein Follies” at Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor on Oct. 26, 27, and 28. The cost is $475.
For younger actors, mature 6-to-9-year-olds, Stages offers a creative drama workshop at Bay Street on Tuesdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. through Nov. 13. The class is designed as an introduction to acting. A presentation of a short play will be held on the final day of the session. The cost is $285.
Helene Leonard, director and co-founder of Stages, directs both programs. Stage parents or guardians may register or get further details from her at

In this class, designed for girls ages 8 to 18, participants will begin by journaling what’s on their minds and will be led through exercises and improvisation to adapt words into gesture, movement, and dance. The session will end with a dance performance. The cost is $60; scholarships are available on a first come, first served basis. Registration details can be found at
