East End Mental Health Conference Offers Workshops, Thiele

The East End Mental Health Awareness Day, a free conference, will be held on Saturday at Southampton High School. Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele Jr., who recently helped secure $175,000 in the state budget to support the South Fork Behavioral Health Initiative, is slated to speak about what mental health initiatives will mean to the East End.

A morning session will consist of three workshops, which will include the topics of cognitive screening, accessing services and treatment, and mental health and violence. The conference will also include a panel discussion, a question-and-answer session, and networking opportunities.

The Towns of Southampton and East Hampton are co-sponsoring the event, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Online registration is available through Southampton Town's website, and brochures are available at local libraries and the two town halls. More information can be obtained by calling 702-2445. Southampton High School is at 141 Narrow Lane.
