The Madoo Conservancy in Sagaponack will open its winter lecture series on Sunday at noon with “City Parks: Public Places, Private Thoughts,” a talk by Catie Marron, author of the book by the same name.
Ms. Marron will lead a visual and poetic tour of urban parks from London to Brooklyn, Calcutta to Chicago, and Paris to San Francisco, all captured in the book by the photographs of Oberto Gili and the words of such contributors as Zadie Smith, Ian Frazier, Candice Bergen, and Colm Toibin. “City Parks” will be available for signing.
Count Stefano Aluffi-Pentini, founder of the high-end tour company A Private View of Italy, will discuss on Feb. 16 such historic gardens and villas of Tuscany as Villa di Centinale, Villa Medici, and Villa Gamberaia.
John Hall, a photographer, will present images of gardens from his new book, “Private Gardens of the Hudson Valley,” on Feb. 23. Mr. Hall will sign copies after his talk.
The series will conclude on March 9 with John Danzer, founder of Munder-Skiles, producers of handcrafted garden furniture, who will share an extensive series of garden images.
Receptions follow all talks, which will take place at noon in the Winter House Studio. Tickets are $30, $25 for members. Series tickets are $100, $80 for members. Tickets may be purchased at madoo.org.
