Billy Vorpahl, a former East Hampton Town trustee, has agreed to return to the nine-member panel, filling the seat left vacant by the death of Norman C. Edwards Jr. in January. Mr. Vorpahl, of Amagansett, took the oath of office on Tuesday night at the start of the board’s July work session.
Mr. Vorpahl is no stranger to the trustees. He served as a Republican member of the board from 1988 to 1991. In May of 2000, he filled a seat vacated by Martin Bennett and won election in subsequent years until 2007. He switched his allegiance to the Independence Party two years ago. His name will not be on the ballot in November because the nominating process has closed.
