Onstage and in the Spirit

The Hampton Ballet Theater School rehearsed "The Nutcracker," which opens at Guild Hall in East Hampton on Friday night. Durell Godfrey

With the holiday season in full swing, a number of theatrical and musical performances on the South Fork this weekend are opportunities to get in the spirit.

The Hampton Ballet Theater School will present "The Nutcracker" at Guild Hall in East Hampton Village on Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $25 for adults and $20 for children under 12 in advance, and are an additional $5 at the door. Local students will share the stage with resident and visiting artists in this perennial holiday classic.

At the Southampton Presbyterian Church, which is at 2 South Main Street in Southampton, a live nativity will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. On Sunday, the church will present Carols and Candlelight at 5 p.m.

The Springs School's fifth through eighth-grade choir will perform songs, including holiday favorites, at Gurney's in Montauk, at 290 Old Montauk Highway, from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

A pair of concerts are planned for Sunday in Montauk and Sag Harbor. At 4 p.m. at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church in Montauk the adults' and children's choirs and the recorder ensemble will perform. Refreshments will be served and donations for the food pantry will be collected. The church is at 67 South Essex Street. In Sag Harbor, at the Old Whalers Church, the Sag Harbor Community Band and the Sweet Adelines choir will perform at 7:30 p.m. The show is free.

While not specifically a holiday-themed show, the Ross Children's Community Theater will also offer some entertainment this weekend. Its production, "Wonderland," is a musical adaptation of Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There," written by Margaret Kestler, a Ross School teacher and the show's director. Show times are Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Ross Lower School Field House, 739 Butter Lane in Bridgehampton. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children. Inquiries for additional information may be directed to mkestler@ross.org.

Looking ahead, students of Studio 3 in Bridgehampton will perform "Mixed Nuts" next weekend at Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor. Performances are slated for Friday, Dec.18 and Saturday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 20 at 1 p.m. Advance tickets are $15 for children 10 and under and senior citizens, and $20 for adults. Tickets are available by emailing diane@dancestudio3.com. Bay Street Theater, Sag Harbor, 7 p.m.
