Police Make Arrest in Dune Road House Fire

Southampton Town police said that they had arrested a suspect in connection with a suspicious fire that heavily damaged a Dune Road, Bridgehampton, house on Saturday.

Police said that they arrested David Osiecki, 54, of Sagaponack at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday on a felony arson charge. Mr. Osiecki was is also to be charged with misdemeanor arson in connection with an earlier brush fire he allegedly set in the Bridgehampton-Hayground area, according to a statement released by the police, who did not provide that incident's location or date.

Mr. Osiecki has been arrested on several other occasions on charges of trespassing and petty larceny and had been described in the past as homeless. Mr. Osiecki's has been a regular name on Sag Harbor police police logs for various incidents. His daughter told police recently that she was no longer in need of an order of protection against him because she was moving from the area.

Until now the crimes he has been accused of in previous arrests were at the misdemeanor level. He will be arraigned in Southampton Court Sunday morning on the new felony charge.

The house Mr. Osiecki is accused of setting fire to is on an oceanfront property near Mecox Bay. In 2011 Corcoran real estate offered the seven-bedroom post-modern for $34 million. Southampton Town records list its owner as Ziel Feldman, the founder and managing partner of HFZ Group, a New York City real estate development and investment firm.
