Blood drives are being held at local firehouse this week. Durell Godfrey

To help address an emergency blood shortage, representatives from the New York Blood Center will be at the Sag Harbor Firehouse on Brick Kiln Road on Tuesday, and then at the Bridgehampton Firehouse on School Street on Wednesday.

Donors, who can give between 2 and 8 p.m. at both firehouses, have to be at least 17 years old, or 16 with written consent from a parent or legal guardian, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good health. Those over the age of 76 can give as long as they present a letter from a doctor.

Refreshments will be served to donors after they give.
