Food Meet-Up Thursday

The Amagansett Food Institute will hold the first in a series of business meet-ups for small food producers Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the headquarters of Plain-T, a purveyor of boutique teas, at 87 Powell Avenue in Southampton.

Cheryl Clements, the founder and chief executive of PieShell, will discuss crowdfunding for small food businesses and describe how PieShell works. She describes the company as “a rewards-based crowdfunding site for food and beverage entrepreneurs that is changing the way food companies are funded,” saying it has “built a vibrant community of entrepreneurs, committed foodies, and trendsetters.”

Alessandro and Tathiana Texeira, Plain-T’s co-founders, will provide tastings of several of their products.

The event is billed as a networking opportunity for food entrepreneurs that will also provide the chance to pitch a business model to PieShell.

Space is limited, and advance registration has been asked, by email to info@amagansettfoodinstitute.org.
