Get Rid of Household Hazardous Waste Saturday

STOP Day comes but twice a year, so those residents who have amassed a stockpile of household hazardous waste might well be eager for Saturday, when the East Hampton Town Recycling Center on Springs-Fireplace Road will accept a range of paints, chemicals, lubricants, and fuel.

Stop Throwing Out Pollutants Day will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oil-based paint, pesticides, gasoline, diesel, solvents, engine coolant, and flammable material are among the classes of items that will be accepted. The recycling center can be phoned at 324-7191 with questions.

The date of a fall waste collection day at the Montauk transfer station is to be announced soon.

Those looking to safely dispose of their electronic waste can drop it off at GeekHampton in Sag Harbor on Friday or Saturday for free.
