It's Pawty Time at ARF Center

People and their pets are encouraged to go in costume. Durell Godfrey

Tricks and treats aren't just for kids, at least not when the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons is involved. On Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., ARF will hold its annual Halloween Pawty — yes, you read that right — for adults, kids, and, of course, pets.

The trails around the ARF Adoption Center at 124 Daniel's Hole Road in Wainscott will be decorated in haunting fashion for the occasion, and there will be candy and games for humans and special treats for their four-legged companions. Costumes are encouraged, as are visits with the center's adoptable cats and dogs, which can also be seen online at arfhamptons.org.

Who knows, the treat you take home may be a new family pet.

The party is free.

Also this month, ARF is encouraging people to adopt a black cat or kitten or any adult cat 1 or older by offering those who do a $75 gift certificate to Bostwick's Chowder House in East Hampton.

New sessions of Puppy Kindergarten, dog agility, and therapy dog prep classes with Matthew Posnick begin Friday. A full list can be found online.
