Southampton Town residents will be able to safely dispose of household chemicals, stale fuel, paints, and lawn and garden products at the North Sea transfer station on Majors Path on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. The next scheduled Stop Throwing Out Pollutants, or STOP, collections will be on June 3 at the Westhampton transfer station and on Aug. 26 at the Sag Harbor facility.
A list of accepted materials can be found on the town’s website. It includes automotive products such as antifreeze, oil, batteries, and bodywork compounds; landscaping insecticides, herbicides, and pest-control poisons; household items including glue, cleaning solutions, fluorescent lightbulbs, polishes, mothballs, and oven cleaners, along with photographic chemicals, lighter fluid, and pool chemicals.
Disposal of these items at other times is prohibited. Residents with questions about the program can phone the recycling office at 631-283-5210.
