With hundreds, if not thousands, expected to descend on Montauk just for the fireworks show on the Fourth of July, a beach cleanup has been organized for the following morning to ensure the beaches stay pristine.

The Peconic Baykeeper and the Eastern Long Island Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation have scheduled the downtown Montauk beach cleanup for Wednesday, July 5. Those wishing to help can gather at Umbrella Beach at 11 a.m. Burlap bags and gloves will be provided by the Surfrider Foundation.

A trailer, courtesy of Hoyt Property Care, will be in the Kirk Park Beach parking lot to haul away the trash that is collected.
