The Montauk Lighthouse Will Be Lit for the Holidays Starting Saturday

The Montauk Lighthouse will be lit up again for the holiday season. Morgan McGivern

The holiday season arrives at the Montauk Lighthouse this weekend, starting on Saturday with the annual Lighting of the Light, from 4 to 7 p.m. This year’s event is in memory of Betsy White, a longtime member of the Montauk Historical Society and a fervent lighthouse supporter. The lights will be on nightly through Jan. 1.

On Saturday, the gates open at 3:30 p.m., allowing visitors a chance to roam the grounds and stop in at the museum's gift shop. Sarah Conway and the Playful Souls will entertain with holiday music. The rain date is Sunday.

On Sunday, the festivities continue with a visit from Santa from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be holiday treats and hot cider, pony rides, and more music by Ms. Conway. The gift shop will be open again for holiday shopping. The rain date for the Santa visit is Dec. 3.

Take note: The Lighthouse tower will be closed to climbers.
