Mosquito Spraying Coming Thursday and Friday

Suffolk County's Division of Vector Control will conduct aerial spraying for mosquito larvae over select marshes between Thursday and Friday, anytime from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In East Hampton Town, spraying will happen over Napeague Harbor and Accabonac Harbor. In Southampton Town, it will be done over North Sea, Westhampton Dunes, Dune Road, Iron Point in Flanders, and Jagger and Meadow Lanes in Southampton Village.

The pesticides, which will be dropped by helicopter, are VectoBac 12AS and methoprene. The county has not recommended precautions, as it said the helicopter flies low over marsh areas and human exposure is unlikely. The pesticides have no significant human toxicity, according to the county.

Up-to-date information on vector control activities is available from a county hotline at 631-852-4270.
