Long Island Rail Road trains will not run between Patchogue and Montauk for a 24-hour period on Saturday, officials announced on Tuesday.
Train service from Saturday at 12:36 a.m. until Sunday at about the same time has been canceled because of to work on the William Floyd Parkway grade crossing on the L.I.R.R.'s Montauk branch. Twenty-two trains will be affected. Bus service will be provided. Customers traveling between the Bellport and Montauk stations should allow for extra travel time to transfer between trains and buses in Patchogue.
Trains west of Patchogue will run on their normal schedules.
Rail traffic east of the crossing in the Town of Brookhaven will stop from Friday at 10 p.m. to Sunday at 5 a.m. as the railroad installs a new concrete grade surface, steel rails, and concrete ties. The William Floyd Parkway will be closed at the railroad crossing.
