A fund-raiser for Robbie Badkin, a well-known Lazy Point resident and Montauk welder, will be held Sunday at Inlet Seafood restaurant in Montauk.
Sushi and appetizers will be served from 4 to 8 p.m. The cost to eat is $30 at the door. There will also be an art auction and raffles with items donated from local businesses, such as a $50 gift certificate to Manucci's restaurant in Montauk and a custom fishing rod from Mike Garone. There will be no charge for those who just want to attend the auction.
Mr. Badkin, 51, developed a severe blood infection that caused him to have trouble breathing in early January. He was put in an induced coma and placed on a ventilator for two weeks, and his family said he wasn't expected to pull through. While he recovered at the Hamptons Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Southampton, his family and friends began fund-raising efforts to cover his expenses and make repairs to his house on Napeague.
