Yom Kippur Begins at Sunset

Yom Kippur will starts at sunset. It will be observed by the Jewish Center of the Hamptons in East Hampton Friday evening with a Kol Nidre service at 8. There will be a morning service on Saturday at 10 with a "break-out session" for young children and a program of reflections at 1 p.m. A service for the families of young children will take place at 3 p.m., with Yizkor and Neilah services from 4 to 7 p.m.

Chabad of the Hamptons in East Hampton will have a Kol Nidre Yom Kippur evening service Friday at 6:30. Services begin Saturday at 9 and a children's service at 11. A Yizkor memorial service begins at 11:30, Mincha at 5 p.m., and Neilah at 6. A buffet to break the fast will be served after 7:13 p.m. 

Temple Adas Israel in Sag Harbor will hold two Kol Nidre services Friday evening, one for temple members and guests at 6:30, a second open to all at 8:30. Saturday’s schedule will begin at 10 with a morning service. A family service will take place at 2 p.m., an afternoon service at 4, a Yizkor memorial service at 5:45, and a concluding service at 6:30.

The Conservative Synagogue of the Hamptons will conduct its Kol Nidre service Friday at 6:30 p.m. Shacharit, including Yizkor, will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, followed by Minchah and Neilah at 4:15 p.m. and Tekiat Shofar and Havdalah at 7:10. The services will be held at the Bridgehampton Presbyterian Church.

The Chabad Jewish Center on Hill Street will begin the observance of Yom Kippur Friday at 6:17 p.m. with the lighting of candles to start the fast. A Kol Nidrei service will be held at 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the morning service will be at 9 a.m., with a Torah reading at 10:15 a.m. A children’s service and program will be held at 10:30 a.m. The Yizkor memorial service is at 11:30 a.m., and a Musaf service will go on until 2. At 5 p.m., a Minchah service will be held, and the Neliah closing service is at 6. The fast ends at 7:13 p.m.

A Sukkot service will be held on Wednesday with a candle lighting at 6:08 p.m. The Minchah service will be at 6:15 p.m. with an an evening service at 6:30. Dinner in the sukkah follows.

Next Thursday and Friday and Saturday, Oct. 6 and 7, the morning service will be at 9 a.m., followed by buffet Kiddush in the sukkah. Minchah services are at 6:15 p.m. all three days. Evening services next Thursday and on Oct. 6 are at 6:30 p.m. On Oct. 7, the evening service is at 7:02 p.m., when Shabbat ends.
