Kathy Kronuch, who ran Johnny’s Tackle Shop on Main Street in Montauk with her husband, John, for over 30 years, died on Monday at Southampton Hospital of cancer after a brief illness. She was 54.
Ms. Kronuch was a helpful fount of fishing information for anglers unfamiliar with Montauk’s various fishing challenges. She herself loved to fish and during the spring squid run could always be found at night next to her lantern on her favorite dock on Fort Pond Bay.
She was born in Deer Park on Feb. 4, 1957, a daughter of Phillip and Theresa Wysocki. Her mother survives, as do her husband, John, and her children John P. Kronuch and Emily A. Kronuch, both of Montauk. She also leaves her brother, Gerald Wysocki of Melbourne, Fla., and sister, Susan Wysocki of Deer Park.
Kathy Kronuch was raised in Deer Park, graduated from Deer Park High School and attended Suffolk Community College in Coram.
Friends and family will gather at the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in East Hampton tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be private. Memorial contributions were suggested for the Montauk Fire Department, Edgemere Road, Montauk 11954.
