Darlene C. Rozzi, a former Sag Harbor resident who was the clubhouse manager of the Sag Harbor Golf Club for more than 20 years, died Tuesday at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C., after an illness. She was 82.
Mrs. Rozzi was the widow of the late Edward Rozzi.
She was born on Dec. 28, 1929, in Sag Harbor, a daughter of the late Reubel Dechert and the former Hazel Hand. Her family spent the fall, winter, and spring in New Jersey, where she attended school. They summered in Sag Harbor, where she met Mr. Rozzi and settled down.
While living on Garden Street in Sag Harbor and raising her children with Mr. Rozzi, she worked at Sag Harbor Golf Club. She was a member of the Sag Harbor Fire Department, where she served as the president of the ladies auxiliary. She retired to Myrtle Beach in 1993, where she golfed and was a member of the Myrtle Beach Elks Lodge.
In addition to her husband, her sister, Elizabeth Plum, died before her.
She is survived by her children, Dennis J. Rozzi of Cameron, N.C., Susan K. Vail of Wainscott, and Darlene A. Rozzi of Seoul, Korea. She had two grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Visiting hours will be held at the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral will be held on Wednesday at Christ Episcopal Church in Sag Harbor with burial to follow at St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery.
