Alice M. Eliason, who spent her early life in Sag Harbor, died on Jan. 13 at the Brentwood Nursing Home in Warwick, R.I. She was 94.
Mrs. Eliason was a daughter of William B. Stanley and the former Minnie M. Reid, born in Toronto on Sept. 30, 1917.
When she was a girl, her family moved to Sag Harbor, where she attended school and graduated from Pierson High School in 1936.
A first marriage ended in divorce. She moved to Connecticut after her children, Stanley Staudinger and Janice Staudinger, were grown.
Once in Connecticut, she worked for Sears in West Hartford, then at the Warwick Mall in Rhode Island. In 1971, she married Carl E. Eliason, who survives.
Mrs. Eliason was a member of the Pioneer Lodge Vasa Order of America, Verdandi Ladies, and the American Union Swedish Singers Ladies and its Cultural Heritage Foundation, and the Verdandi Cultural Heritage Foundation.
Her children died before her, as did her sister, Margaret Eames. She had four nephews, all of whom survive.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor. Burial will follow at Sag Harbor’s Oakland Cemetery in a family plot. Melanie Buttonow, who had been a lifelong friend of Mrs. Eliason’s, will sing during a graveside service.
