Florence M. Rawson, formerly of East Hampton, died on July 17 at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo after a brief illness. She was 86.
Mrs. Rawson was interested in history and enjoyed reading and her garden. Her family described her as an artistic person. They said she would be remembered as one of the kindest, most caring, and generous people one could meet.
She was a graduate of East Hampton High School and for many years worked as a clerk at the East Hampton I.G.A. store. She retired to New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and had begun to spend summers with her daughter Patricia A. Rawson in Cuba, N.Y. Another daughter, Linda Gardner, lives in Port Orange, Fla.
Mrs. Rawson was born on Sept. 11, 1925, in the Bronx, a daughter of Lawrence W. Miller and Frances L. Petre. The family later moved to East Hampton, where she would marry Frank B. Rawson on Aug. 24, 1945.
She had two siblings, Lawrence W. Miller II and Ruth Rawson, who died before her, as did her parents and husband.
