Madeline Rendich, who was a co-owner with her partner, Sue Perry, of the Carousel Shop in East Hampton for many years, died last Thursday at home in Fishkill, N.Y. She was 86. No cause of death was given.
She was born in Brooklyn on Aug. 2, 1927, to Lester J. Rendich and the former Madeline Ring and grew up in East Hampton. She was known as Jill to friends.
Ms. Rendich’s interests included gardening, swimming, and skiing, especially in Europe. She served terms as vice president of the East Hampton Chamber of Commerce and, after she moved away, president of the Westchester Sweet Adelines.
She is survived by a sister, Mary Alice Behringer of Jackson Heights, Queens, and a brother, Lester J. Rendich of Wilsboro, N.Y. Another brother, Michael Rendich, and Ms. Perry died before her. She left many nieces and nephews.
A Mass for her was said on Tuesday at the Church of St. Mary, Mother of the Church, in Fishkill.
