Vicki Lynne Rhodes, a custodian for the East Hampton School District for many years, died on Nov. 18 at Southampton Hospital from a cardiac-related illness. She was 63.
Born on Dec. 6, 1949, Ms. Rhodes was the third of Edward Rhodes and Ida Mae Gibble’s five children. She lived in East Hampton for her entire life, attending school here. In high school, she excelled athletically and played on many varsity teams. Later, she went to work for the school district, primarily in the middle school.
She is survived by three children, Brandon Albert and Lisa Albert of East Hampton and Lamar Albert of Patchogue, and by five grandchildren. “This is truly where she found her greatest joy, spending time with and talking to her grandchildren,” her family wrote. She was also particularly close with a sister-in-law, Hattie Mae Koger of North Carolina, and talked with her almost every day, said her daughter, Lisa.
Ms. Rhodes also leaves a sister, Sharon Rhodes of Patchogue, and a brother, Stanley Rhodes of East Hampton. Her parents and two of her siblings died before her.
A private burial was held on Nov. 24 at Green River Cemetery in Springs.
