Lillian Wils, who lived in Sag Harbor for more than 50 years, died last Thursday at Southampton Hospital of cardiac arrest. She was 87.
Mrs. Wils and her husband, Harry Wils Sr., raised seven children, all of whom survive her.
A lover of cooking shows and Lifetime movies on Sunday afternoons, she was described by her children as a woman who didn’t like to be fussed with.
She was born in South Hempstead on Sept. 24, 1925, to Nicholas Olsen and the former Elizabeth Gale. She was a devoted homemaker, her family said, and in later years enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Harry Wils, Margarett Henn, and Patricia Malloy of Sag Harbor, Mary Battaglia of Houston, Thomas Wils of Vail, Ariz., Barbara Field of Ellenton, Fla., and Dorothy Wils of Hazelton, Pa. She leaves 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Her husband died before her as did her brothers, Norman and Leonard Olsen.
Visiting hours were held on Sunday at the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor. Ms. Wils was cremated. The family has suggested memorial donatiosn to the Sag Harbor Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 2725, Sag Harbor 11963.
