Peter Paul Lester, an East Hampton native who had moved to Florida eight years ago after retiring, died at home in Wesley Chapel there on Nov. 17, the day before his 66th birthday, of a heart attack.
According to his daughter, Ashley Lester of East Hampton, Mr. Lester had run his own landscaping business and prior to that had owned Tucker’s Garage in Amagansett.
“He got along with everybody,” she said. “He was just a people person who knew everybody in town.”
Mr. Lester was born on Nov. 18, 1947, to Howard Lester and the former Barbara Remkus. He graduated from East Hampton High School and on Nov. 1, 1969, was married at the Amagansett Presbyterian Church to the former Linda Anderson, who survives him.
Besides his wife and daughter, Mr. Lester is survived by a son, Jason Lester of East Hampton, a brother, Howard Lester of New Hampshire, and two sisters, Sandra Dahl of Michigan and Margaret Lucyk of Sag Harbor. He also leaves three grandchildren.
His parents and a sister, Patricia Wyncoop, died before him.
A service was held on Dec. 12 at the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in East Hampton. Burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery in Amagansett.
