Antoinette Barsdis

Antoinette S. Barsdis, a retired custodian with the Sag Harbor School District, died on Friday at Southampton Hospital. She was 76. No cause of death was given.

A 1956 graduate of East Hampton High School, she was a lifelong resident of Fredericka Lane in East Hampton. Prior to her employment as a custodian, Ms. Barsdis’s other jobs in Sag Harbor involved stints at Rowe Industries, Sag Harbor Industries, and the Bulova watchcase factory. She also worked at the East Hampton Veterinary Group for a time and for a lithograph company in Westbury, where labels for soup cans were printed.

She was born in Southampton on June 30, 1938, to Anthony Barsdis and the former Sophie Dysken.

A lover of family and her hometown, Ms. Barsdis often took photographs of Hook Mill in East Hampton and the Montauk Point Lighthouse. She was a fan of country music and Elvis Presley, and always had a pet cat.

Ms. Barsdis is survived by two siblings, Catherine Babcock of East Hampton and Teresa Boothe of Salisbury, Md. She leaves three nieces and five nephews.

Visiting hours and a prayer service were held on Tuesday at the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in East Hampton, with burial following at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery. Memorial donations have been suggested to the East Hampton Village Ambulance Association, 1 Cedar Street, East Hampton 11937.
