When the Amagansett Fire Department held its annual Inspection dinner at the Devon Yacht Club on Friday, the department paid tribute to Joe LaCarrubba, the longest-serving member in its history, for his remarkable 60 years of service. Mr. LaCarrubba is the department’s first 60-year member.
Also honored were Marty Mahar and Allen Bennett Sr., for 30 years of service, John Fallon, Michael Cinque, Scotty Bennett, and Tom Field for 25 years, Kent Howie, Mary Eames, Neal Martin, and P.J. Cantwell for 20 years, Todd Fagerland and Richard Webb for 15 years, Debbie DiSunno and Christina Bennett for 10 years, and Steven Bennett, Wayne Gauger, Joe Karpinski, Sam Lester III, and Randy Hoffman for 5 years of service. Mr. Field, it was noted, has responded to more calls than any other firefighter in the department’s history. Britton Bistrian received the Chiefs Award for outstanding service assisting the chiefs. The department also recognized the Company 4 Fire Police with a new Company of the Year award.
A new award was given to the emergency medical service person of the year, Mr. Karpinski. And the Firefighter of the Year Award went to Mr. Gauger.
