Police Seek Help in Burglary Investigation

Thief stole almost $2,000 raised for a woman with breast cancer for treatment and related programs.

East Hampton Town police have released two images taken from a surveillance camera of a red Jeep that may have a connection to the May 7 burglary of a Gardiner Avenue, Springs, residence.
Chris Foran, who lives there, told police almost $2,000 in cash was stolen from her. According to Det. Lt. Chris Anderson, Ms. Foran has been diagnosed with breast cancer and the money had been raised for her treatment and for related breast cancer programs.
"We are looking for any information that can lead us to the owner of the Jeep," Detective Anderson said. He stressed that the Jeep's owner was not a suspect at this time, calling him or her "a person of interest who might have knowledge that could help the investigation."
The images, according to time stamps, were taken between 12:24 p.m. and 12:39 p. m. on the day of the burglary, although in their initial report police placed the window of time for the crime as between 1:13 and 5:30 that afternoon.
Anyone with information about the Jeep has been asked to call town police at (631) 537-7575.
