$10 Grand in Jewelry Gone

Several items of jewelry the value of which was estimated at more than $10,000 were taken from a Middle Highway, East Hampton, house on Friday.

East Hampton Town police released a report this week describing the incident. They said that Alana and Daniel Leland arrived home at about 5 p.m. that day to discover that someone had gone through a set of bedroom drawers. A pair of diamond earrings with gold settings, a pair of gold hoop earrings, a gold cross necklace, and a small box that contained other earrings were missing. The Lelands put the value of the missing items at more than $10,900.

Police said that there were no signs that the thief or thieves had forced their way into the house. Several neighbors interviewed by police said that they had not seen anything unusual during the day.
