Wood Bat Addition
A team from Montauk, to be known as the Montauk Mustangs, will play in the East End’s collegiate wood bat league this summer. It will be the seventh team to play in the league, whose other teams are based in Sag Harbor, Southampton, Westhampton Beach, Shelter Island, Riverhead, and the North Fork. Robert Aspenleiter, a retired New York City detective with 30 years of high school coaching experience, has been named the Mustangs’ general manager. He’s looking for a head coach and for assistants. The weekend games, at which a hat is passed, are to be played on a renovated field at the Montauk School. A “Montauk Monster” will be put up in left-center field.

Field Hockey Honorees
Robyn Mott, head coach of East Hampton High School’s field hockey team, announced this week that Sophia DePasquale had received all-county honorable mention, that Amanda Calabrese and Alyssa Bahel were named to the all-division team, and that Kathryn Wood had been named to the all-conference team.
