Car Wash Saturday for Bonac Baseball

The East Hampton High School baseball team will put money from Saturday's car wash toward a spring 2018 trip to Tampa, Fla. Jack Graves

A $10-per-vehicle car wash to help raise money for the East Hampton High School baseball team's spring training trip to Tampa, Fla., next year is to be held Saturday at the East Hampton Middle School, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Vinny Alversa, who took over the varsity coaching reins from Mike Ritsi this spring, and who was the player-manager of the Islandwide-champion East End Tigers, a men's amateur league team, a decade ago, has been working pretty much year round to bring baseball back here.

It's been a rough road — not helped by the fact that his number-one pitcher, Hunter Fromm, suffered a season-ending injury to his pitching hand early on. "Next year will be the year," Kevin Brophy, one of Alversa's assistants, has said.
