Pierson High School girls basketball team bested Southold-Greenport 54-49
May Evjen, at right, and her teammates found Southold, which the Whalers defeated at home on Jan. 27 to nail the lid down on the school’s first league championship in 22 years, to be a far tougher opponent in the county Class C championship game.

Despite the fact that Josh Lamison, their center, was at less than half strength because of a sprained ankle, the Killer Bees (that’s Jerome Walker with the ball above) played gamely in a county Class D semifinal loss at Greenport on Feb. 12.
The East Hampton High School boys swimming team finished seventh among Suffolk’s 17 teams
Trevor Mott, who’s weighing whether to attend the University of North Carolina-Wilmington or the University of California at Santa Barbara, is to swim in the 200 and 500-yard freestyle races at the state swim meet.
