Montauk Library Budget Vote Coming Up Wednesday

Voting on the Montauk Library’s budget proposal of a little more than $900,000 will take place at the library on Wednesday from noon to 7 p.m. The tax rate increase is $1.54 per $1,000 of assessed valuation, which comes to a rate of $27.19. The library’s other income sources include payments in lieu of taxes, the Friends of the Montauk Library, fines, fees, and interest.

The spring newsletter said that in the past year circulation, fitness classes and other programs and attendance at them, and visits generally have increased significantly. On Tuesday, Joyce Raimondo, an artist and children’s book author, will help kids make robots out of recycled materials including boxes, computer parts, wires, and buttons. Registration is a must.

The Lego Builders Club will meet on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Kids can join at any time and put their creativity to work for some fun Lego construction. Their creations will be on display in the children’s room until the next meeting.
