Rev up those engines, it’s time for the 12th annual Red Knights’ Motorcycle Blessing and Ride, which benefits the Suffolk County Burn Center at Stony Brook University Hospital. The ride will take place on Sunday, starting in North Sea.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the Firemen’s Field at the North Sea Fire Department and goes until 11 a.m. The Rev. Steven Howarth of the Amagansett Presbyterian Church, a member of the Red Knights and the Amagansett Fire Department, will offer a blessing before the ride starts at 11:30. Bikers will travel to Montauk Highway and head east to Amagansett, then ride through Springs, down Route 114 to Sag Harbor, up to Noyac Road, and back to the North Sea Firehouse. Local fire departments are shutting down traffic at cross streets so bikers can make their way through uninterrupted. A barbecue will be held at the North Sea field.
Proceeds from the ride and raffle will go toward the burn center. The Red Knights are fire service personnel from across the East End who promote motorcycle safety and raise money for local charities. Any motorcyclist can register for Sunday’s ride.
