The poet and widow of the painter Fairfield Porter died on Oct. 10 at the age of 99 in Hampton Bays

Elaine Lyons, a teacher and administrator for 40 years at the Lavelle School for the Blind in the Bronx, died of cancer on Oct. 15 at Calvary Hospital there. She was 75.

Fannie Square Crawford, who was born in Virginia in 1916 and moved with her family to Sagaponack in 1929, died on Oct. 11 at the Hamptons Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Southampton. She was 94.

Mrs. Lester, an Amagansett resident for many years, died on Oct. 6 at the Riverhead Care Center of complications from diabetes. She was 82.

Thomas Murphy, who retired to live full time Montauk in 2003 after leaving the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, died of congestive heart failure on Friday at the Hamptons Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Southampton. He was 63.
