Ernest Mott, a former Army medic, longtime employee of the A&P Tea Company, and member of the East Hampton Fire Department for 53 years, died on Dec. 13 in Sebastian, Fla. He was 91.

Gerhard Mercker died on Dec. 11 after an illness of a year at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City. He was 70 years old.

Gordon F. Peavy, who moved to East Hampton with his lifelong partner, the artist Albert Sharp, died on Dec. 6 at Southampton Hospital at the age of 78.

Helen Feind died on Oct. 28 in Bryn Mawr, Pa. She was 92.

Mr. Duffy died at the age of 84 on Dec. 2 in Connecticut, where he had spent his last days, living with family.

Sally Murphy Martin of Montauk died on Friday with her husband, Thomas, at her side in the house the two built together.

Suzanne Steele, whose roots in East Hampton Town go back 10 generations, died in San Francisco on Oct. 18 following a heart attack. She was 85.

Dr. William F.X. Flynn of Amagansett, 77, a head and neck surgeon who moved to Amagansett full time upon his retirement in 1997, died at home after a brief illness on Dec. 9.

William J. Reese, who at one time ran a Bridgehampton architecture firm, died of cancer on Nov. 30 at home in La Jolla, Calif. He was 68.
